Community Umpire

The Community Umpire (old Level 0) program has been completely re-designed and covers the basic knowledge and skills required to umpire a game.  To obtain national accreditation, recognised by Baseball Australia, as a Community Umpire the following requirements must be met:

  • Successful completion of the Officiating General Principles course offered by the Australian Sports Commission
  • Completion and pass of the Community Umpire online assessment
  • Completion of a 1.5 hour practical session or assessed as competent in a practical game assessment by a qualified umpire assessor
  • Umpire must be registered in the national database (ie SportsTG platform)

The online components and the online assessment can be done at your own pace.  The practical session will be offered on an as-needed basis once a number of umpires have completed the online components or the practical game assessment can be arranged in consulation with the State Director of Umpiring.

The usual cost for this program of $15 is being paid for by Baseball SA.  This means there is no cost to you.  Registration includes a digital copy of the 2019 Official Baseball Rules.
